Today marks an exciting milestone with the opening of the National Geographic Museum of Exploration in DC. It represents the culmination of years of vision, creativity, collaboration, and dedication from an extraordinary project team.
SH Acoustics is incredibly grateful to have contributed to the acoustic and audio design of numerous key spaces throughout the Museum campus, helping create environments where storytelling, media, and architecture come together to immerse visitors in exploration and discovery.
While some of the spaces we were privileged to work on—including two very special immersive and event experiences—will welcome the public next month, today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this achievement and recognize everyone who helped bring it to life.
We're honored to have been part of this remarkable journey and look forward to sharing more as the next chapter of the MOE comes online.

The last two days at the Obama Presidential Center Museum have been especially rewarding for our team at SH Acoustics.

While we’ve spent months designing, commissioning, and calibrating the exhibit audio systems, this week marked something incredibly important — the opportunity to observe and fine-tune the experience with real visitors moving through the galleries.
There’s always so much to learn once people arrive:
• How long they linger
• Where conversations naturally happen
• Which exhibits draw larger crowds
• How movement and occupancy shape the acoustic environment
Every observation helps refine the balance between intelligibility, immersion, and comfort — ensuring visitors can clearly hear the stories being told while remaining fully enveloped in the experience.
What stands out most is the Obama Presidential Center team’s commitment to getting every detail right. Many projects conclude once systems are installed and operational. Here, the focus has remained on listening, observing, adjusting, and collaborating in real-world conditions to create an exceptional visitor experience.
It has been a privilege working alongside the exhibit media team and museum staff to fine-tune these spaces and learn from actual visitor behavior. Great exhibit audio is never just about technology — it’s about understanding how people experience a place.
The best exhibit audio often goes unnoticed because visitors simply feel connected to the stories around them. That’s exactly how it should be.
Formal public opening is June 19th.

We’re proud to have designed and calibrated the sound for this outstanding new exhibit on the history of Black Baseball at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
This project is another great example that achieving clear, impactful, and immersive sound in exhibits isn’t limited to large-scale installations or brand-new buildings. Thoughtful acoustic and audio design can elevate visitor experiences in exhibits of every scale.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this important story to life!
